How Package Notifications Can Aid Workplaces During The COVID Era

The logistics space is ever-evolving. Within the past decade, the technological advances made with innovations like IoT and blockchain have reshaped how our entire industry operates. The logistical area of package delivery has been profoundly impacted by technology, with smart lockers and bot-delivery. While many innovations are well-known and even celebrated, others go unsung; of these rarely lauded yet transformative innovations, package notification systems are perhaps the least-recognized. Package notifications have allowed us to be more connected with the delivery process, as we are made aware of each step of a package’s delivery. In the era of COVID-19, the transparency provided by package tracking systems and notifications has become more critical than ever before.

How Our Package Tracking Notifications Work

During a package’s delivery process, as package tracking systems mark the steps of a process, each step has a different “status.” When an item is assigned a flagged status that corresponds to a particular point in the process, the service generates an email or text. For instance, to alert a recipient that an item is on its way to their desk or home, a user may flag the “Out for Delivery” status to prompt notification to the package recipient. Once configured, each time an item hits that status, an email or text is triggered.

Why Are Notifications Important?

You cannot overstate the importance of a well-functioning package notification system. As more individuals turn to stay at home during the COVID-19 crisis, these systems are proving their worth. Whether it’s for residential or commercial deliveries, package recipients want to know exactly where their package is and expect to receive it. Service providers can now fully customize the content within their notifications, send notifications in batches, and modify email distribution lists for specific notifications.

Package notifications are potentially more critical to in-building logistics. As companies begin to re-open their physical workspaces, facility managers are beginning to think critically about maintaining a safe distance between their employees and entities. A proper notification system keeps employees informed while they are working in a facility or remotely. Managers can minimize human-to-human contact by staggering in-person pick-ups via notifications, set reminders for items that need action, and allow employees to decide what action to take with their items. These critical actions can create a space where employees are safely distant from others and connected with their facility and goods.
